On this Day in History…

On this day, October 6, 1536, William Tyndale was strangled at the stake and then his dead body was burned. Tyndale’s crime? The historical record is a little fuzzy. He was charged with “heresy.” We do know that he opposed King Henry VIII’s divorce and remarriage. He was also a Protestant. However, his major crime was that he translated the Latin Bible into English and distributed copies among the people.

William Tyndale believed that pursuing the cause of Christ was worth the risk.
